  • 2010 DRC Tasting: This was my first ever DRC Montrachet and I was very very excited. Some pear, peach and white flowers on the nose. More tropical fruit on the palate and while this was extremely rich, it was not at all heavy and the purity of the fruit was striking set against a distinct mineral background. Extremely long finish. I would love to try this again in 10 years.

  • 2010 DRC Tasting: Poured last after the reds. This has a tropical fruit note with some richness on the nose, with some banana notes. No sulphur or reduction, you would not confuse the Monty from DRC for a Coche or Leflaive white. Rich, ripe and showing lots of dry extract with some tartness on the palate, again with an oily tropical fruit feel to the texture. The fruit is balanced by a saline and mineral feel on the back end.

  • This wine has a nose of youthful power, but yet it is not a brutal wine, it is a sophisticatedly powerful wine. It is exotic and many at the table (well... at least one important sommelier with initials PR) that it was made in the "old school Montrachet" style, hugely sweet and loaded with botrytis, toasted pineapple, caramel and honey. Not for everyone, but it is pure, rich, complex and shows big minerality.
