  • Deep purplish ruby red in appearance. Layered nose with some feminine notes of white pepper, violets, damp leaves and blue plums. Balanced acidity with medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. A bit of damp herbs, violets, red berries and damp earthiness on the palate. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2022.

  • Interesting to sample this varietal on its own, pleased the surprised crowd, still young, not sure where it will go, a bit closed off, but worth trying if you've not had the chance to taste a pure Verdot. Not sure this has changed at all since last year. My last of the 09- have a few of the 2011 and I think I will leave those for another 4 years or so.

  • Very well built wine, served in a blind tasting. We wanted to do a tasting that included one wine each representing the typical Bordeaux varietals and this led off, followed by a montelena 07 cab franc, a Cavas Crianza Malbec, and a pahlmeyer merlot and cab( granted the latter two have a little blend). We also poured a montelena petit sirah as a ringer as the wine that didn't belong. We had never poured a petit Verdot before -only ones we have are from pahlmeyer through allocation. A very good wine, will be interesting to see how it evolves, clearly in the US this grape can produce an interesting and delicious wine.
