This might be one of those love it or hate it wines. NOSE: Black pepper, white pepper, earth, red cassis, licorice, baking spices. PALATE: Medium body, medium-plus tannins, good acidity. More pepper and baking spices. Some cooked red fruits as well. Between the pepper overload and baking spice action, this is like autumn in a glass to me (too bad it's late June). Would go really well with grilled meats, stews, and other warm dishes that I envision coming around every fall. Or just a glass in the cool autumn weather.

Nice nise of fresh red berries. Lightly spicy, rustic, raspberry, licorice. Worked nicely with a lamb and tabouleh at the Bourbon Steak DC. $10/glass at restaurant. Definitely great QPR if I can find a bottle at $10/bottle.

Dark red in color. Nose of sweet red fruits, bacon fat, and some savory herbs in the background. Smooth medium body wine that is leaning a bit on the hot side from the 14% alcohol that doesn't seem to be very well integrated in the mouth as well as an anise edge. Much of the nose repeats in the mouth with a nice lengthy finish.

I'm quite taken. Candied raspberry, dusty fig. Red licorice. A little positive stemmy spice. Medium body. Easy tannin. Stem and skin tannin. Very pleasant and easy. This wine deserves more props. Whatever.
