Enjoyed an ‘11 of the same wine a few weeks back so time to given another ’10 a whirl? On opening reticent in the extreme. Even after 24 hours slow ox this is very shut down, tasting a bit like an over the hill German spaetburgunder… but the around the 30 hour mark, starts to turn the corner. Remains somewhat rustic, savoury, meaty, but a gentle thread of spice and heathland sous bois frame rose scents and sweet red berries. I think I’ll bury the remainder of my case somewhere that I don’t touch for another 10 years…

Ready to drink southern Burgundy. Most Pinot character on opening with lots of earthy fruit and sous bois. In the decanter it fills out but more red berries start to show.

Better than before, nice ripe Pinot, sous bois, maturing well. Good sir cherry nose and flavour. Has the earthy warmth typical of Santenay, something I like.

The nose here was simply singing and filled a radius around the glass, complex floral perfumes, roses, cherry liqueur, sandalwood, cinnamon, charred meats, animale, cola, confection, mint, a real everything and nothing nose. The palate took quite a while to open up, initially very muted by quite dominant acidity, after about 4 hours began to reflect some of the aromas encountered on the nose but predominantly mineral. Far more accessible than my last bott two years ago, but I suspect best in 5+ and long lived thereafter.
