A private dinner (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): The spitting image of a fine claret from a ripe vintage, mature and rich, spices and fleshy fruit, red meat, cedar, seamless and harmonious, fresh and elegant, medium weight, supply and juicy, firm but ripe tannins, excellent length. Stylish and refined, now - 2020. Wonderful stuff.
Huge nose with almost reductive elements and funk. Dark color. Followed on the palate with funky worn leather notes and perfume fats, almost ambergris. Even with time still maintains feral edge and dark qualities. Really good.
The nose on this wine is unbelievable. Rich concoction of rhubarb compote and dark cherries, with chocolate shavings. On the palate it is cool and reserved, with great acidity and some serious, persistent tannins. Very good now and has a few years ahead.
Dark and dense. Very thick in the glass. Dark fruit and black olive nose. Very smooth and rich and full on huge attack. Plenty of glycerin. Full bodied, tannins starting to soften and balanced by good acidity and fruit. Smooth. Certainly approachable with a decant, but needs time to develop some complexity and secondary nuance. Very good. ***(*)
