  • Decanted 30 mins. ahead. Medium ruby color with a hint of tea. A very pleasant blast of hard spices on the nose leads to black cherry, pomegranate, and peat aromas in a wonderful package. Tart and racy on the palate, as the dark aromas do not weigh this wine down at all. Light-medium body carries cherry compote and cranberry flavors over juicy acids. The finish is long, as earthy flavors trade off with raspberry and light tannins. This wine's dark spice aspects are not yet quite harmonized with its bright fruit; both are richly present. But the acid backbone leads me to think that this wine will reward near-term patience. Even so, right now it draws attention as an ambitious and thoroughly credible bottle of juice.
