Nose was open from the getgo, with youthful aromas of soft red berries and cranberry. On the the palate, this was quite subdued at first; muted raspberry, red cherry, stone. With time, this opened up, with flavors of sweet cherry, stone, and prune. Good balance, nice acid, very Volnay, finishes a bit dry to my liking. Strong start, disappointing finish.
This was perhaps the best of the bunch. Really great aromatics with rose petal and sandalwood. Just a hint of acidity on the finish and a gentle glide down the gullet. Really illustrated how great an aged burg can be--I have some 04's that will wait a while.
Slight bricking around the rim, a delicate floral nose of soft roses that was very pleasant. Decent fruit wrapped around a core of tart cherries. We drank this with my parents to celebrate the sale of an old family property and were not disappointed. I will need move forward and drink the remaining bottles over the next two years.
