Decanted for two hours. Medium garnet with medium intensity developed aromas of bloody steak, burnt cherry, cranberry, mushroom, anise, forest floor, and nutmeg. This wine has medium body and tannins and has flavors of bloody meat, burnt cherry, cranberry, not Meg, chocolate, mushrooms, and Forest floor. This wine has good balance and complexity with a medium finish. I recommend drinking if you have it as this will probably only last 3 to 4 more years.

on open, harshly acidic. tannins still rough and grainy. leathery nose, dark cherries and blood on the palate. requires food. opens up and softens after 3-4 hours, so maybe it's got room to run?

Vinetasters: Sangiovese (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. Probably my favourite of the tasting today. Red fruited, elegant, and some transparent, clean winemaking here. Slightly heady nose, with nice perfume and lift overall. This does suffer slightly from some aldehydic qualities, but overall, this is very elegant and graceful.

Prototypical mature Brunello nose of dried cherry, prune, black currant, leather, and balsamic. Medium body driven by very bright acid that outshouts the dense, finely grained tannin; a better balance would go a long way. The flavor profile includes tangy cherry, dried herb, strawberry, black tea leaf, and plum. Hits the mark on a mid-life Brunello, solid if unspectacular.
