Gotta be honest; this bottle was not nearly as good as the last one from nearly a year ago. Make no mistake, it is still quite good. Just not the exceptional that I remember from the last tasting. It seemed far less bright and fruit driven than our last tasting. It almost seemed as though it was in some sort of "wine aging doldrums" - no longer young and powerful, but not yet aged and refined. Still have one bottle remaining. I will hold out (or try to!) for a couple of years and see what we get at that time.
Very primary still and ready from first pour. Some very sweet oak still coming through with some lovely floral notes and new leather coming through at first. Some tobacco sneaking through after a few hours. A nice wine that has lots of year left ahead. Drink 2015-2025
Decanted 2 hrs. Our bottle was showing a lot of red fruit (strawberries up front followed by raspberries in the middle). I wasn't getting much spice from this wine however the Syrah (I believe) imparted some subtle black olive & graphite notes on the finish. Overall a nice Rhone blend from the folks at Denner.
