  • I know this wine was much better in it's prime but still drank well with tonight's pasta dinner with meat (ground hamburg, sweet Italian sausage, and meatballs) sauce (with using 1/4C of the wine in the sauce). Decent acidity and a reasonable finish. Quite surprised it drank this well 17 years later.

  • Deep slightly opaque ruby with signs of bricking, very open nose of plum with cedar, medium to full body still maintaining its fruit and balance, medium finish, drinking well, but certainly close to the end, time to drink.

  • Plenty of tar and chocolate here. It is lightly spicy and full of cherry fruit. It finishes dry and savoury.

  • Deep ruby colour just starting to brick. Big nose of earth, dark cherry, leather and cedar, Bold balanced taste of cherries and raspberry. this wine has continued to improve and is drinking very well right now but still may have more to show. I will leave my last one for another 3 to 5 years.

  • Hovering between medium purple and deep ruby, the wine starting to acquire a tawny brick color close to the watery edge. As soon as the nose hits my olfactory system I am thrust back into memories of Italy. Initially, scents of dusty roses and earth give way to the scent of dried porcinis and leather with just a touch of cherry. I'm not sure if one can truly smell "sour" cherry, but that is what comes to mind.
All encompassing, round, and on the lean side of full, the palate only backs up the nose with tart cherry and earthy porcini mushroom notes twined with an earthy and leathery backbone. The big surprise was the amount of acidity remaining. The acidity easily dominates the remaining soft tannins and creates a remarkably refreshing, dusty wine.
Dusty, earthy, acidic, tart cherries. This is a well made wine that, while it could last longer, is certainly hitting on all cylinders tight now.
    Excellent, dry and refreshing.
