Opened with about 1hr decant and I'd say that is somewhat necessary to unfurl more of the subtleties here.
Greeted by tons of savoury meaty and spice notes on the nose with an undercurrent of straw, mushroom, and cassis. There is a fairly abundant component of plush blackcurrent and black cherry and just a hint of milk chocolate shavings. Lovely nose and lots going on here.
On the palate it was a bit darker with more of that oak influence. Chalky, ground espresso and chocolate shavings taking over with a robust balance of firm tannins. I felt like the palate left me wanting a litttttle bit more, especially after the nose. That said, this drank beautifully and was extremely enjoyable.
Echoing another note below, while I don't think it's necessarily worth the price point, it still is an extremely enjoyable cab to indulge in.

Very big wine! Lots of life remaining, but if you feel the urge to pop one now, decant for at least an hour or more. Dont think it is a $200 bottle, but maybe closer to $100 it would be a much better value. It is interesting that Melka makes the Brand wine right next door in a completely different way. Anyone have a preference?

At a PNV dinner hosted by Brand at their estate. Tasted a number of Pritchard Hill wines, spectacular setting. First experience with this wine. Unique wine, stood out for sweetness on mid palate and spices on the finish. Not everyone had the same reaction, liked or didn't.

This is a big, bossy and brooding wine.
