  • At this point, fruit has greatly mellowed down. Seemed balanced well with light oaking, neutral acidity.

  • the malolactic fermentation (no oak) gives this cool-climate, late-picked, high-elevation fruit surprising richness to balance what might otherwise be teeth-shattering acidity; lime and tonic water on nose; impressive density and long finish; more expressive and multidimensional at or just below cellar temp

  • Limey/green apple fruit, lots of acid, but mostly a dominant grassy/pyraziney/spicey/bell peppery character. In fact, it reminds me a fair bit of mediocre sauvignon blanc, and I happen to really dislike sauvignon blanc, so this wine did nothing for me. The label says it was picked at 20.8 brix at the end of October -- seems to me like they just couldn't get the grapes ripe.

  • Mostly reticent, dry nose, with some chalk, lemon, spice, and loam emerging as it warms.

Has an easy, medium viscosity in the mouth with good underlying body fat, and medium acidity. The lemon lime fruit is mostly subdued, balancing well with what I suspect is a touch of oak, adding minor notes of butter, cream, and spice to the mix.

Has good build and persistence on the finish, sailing on for a good 30 seconds or more. Letting this warm is especially crucial for it to show its secrets, which are mostly clammed up under 45-50 degrees. Drink now through 2016.

  • Out of the cellar this was decanted through an aerator, then back to bottle and into the fridge, after which it was doled out slowly over the course of an evening. All in all, this performed very well, mineral punch on the nose followed by a 3 act palate, more like my experience with the 09 Demuth than my prior bottle of the 10. Low alcohol, snappy liquid stones and citrus but not underripe. Ideal domestic Chardonnay under $40. 92-94.
