Shea Pinot Provided by and at Gary's: This received a short decant. Consumed a small glass at a tasting. This wine was quite lively and acidic. I welcome this style, and it is much different than California or Burgundy. Melon and a little apple. To me, the balance of this wine shines through and makes it enjoyable.
Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasting (Gary's Place): Light gold color. Decanted 1 hour; drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Had this about 4 months ago for the first time and enjoyed it very much. This bottle proved that was no aberration. Lovely nose with white fruits, pear, melon, subtle grapefruit, almond paste. The palate is medium bodied with focus and precision, pear, white fruits, mineral, little if any oak, wonderfully balanced, medium plus finish. There's a very nice elegance and purity to this. This turned out to be better than any of the 3 examples of Shea Wine Cellars pinot noir.
A little funky on opening but with some air it really came around. Big mouthfeel, pungent nose, medium finish--this wine is drinking well right now. There is hint of oxidation on the finish but plenty of citrusy acid so not sure where this is going but pretty nice right now.
White Wednesday (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Light gold color. PNP, drank 2+ glasses over 2 hours. This also got significantly better with time in glass. Very elegant and refined on the nose and palate. Pleasant aromas of pear, melon, subtle tangerine. The palate is almost delicate, it just seems so pretty, everything is restrained but focused, pear, melon, but there is a depth that carries through and clings on the finish. Lovely stuff, quite a good QPR as well.
Lovely nose of peaches and green apple. Light and delicate on the palate - perhaps even a bit too light on the mid-palate. Crisp, but not at all tart with good balance and a long, fruity finish. Took on a bit of an oxidized flavor after some airtime. Enjoyed it, but not quite as rich and flavorful as I would like.
