  • Still tasting extremely good right now !! I agree with my note of almost 5 months ago. This note is specifically for the vineyard designated Londer Estate Pinot Noir (now Angels Camp Vineyard).
The cork was perfect after over a decade in the bottle. This balanced Pinot Noir was consumed over two days. Bright ruby color with little to no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of red raspberry and pomegranate, flavors of red fruit compote, rhubarb with a hint of forest floor with a medium finish. A balanced Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley appellation of Pinot Noir clones: Dijon 115, 667, 777, 828, Swan, David Bruce, 2A and Pommard. This Pinot Noir is an age worthy wine and may have one or two more years of life left. I still have half a dozen bottles in the cellar and will review again soon to validate this tasting note. Great winemaking in a problematic year by Larry Londer and Joe Webb. I sure miss Larry and Shirley, I hope they are doing well in retirement.

This balanced Pinot Noir was consumed over two days. Bright ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of red raspberry and pomegranate, flavors of red fruit compote, rhubarb with a hint of forest floor with a medium finish. Popped and poured, but this wine really benefited from gentle oxygen since it was much more soft and integrated with the second glass and on day two. A balanced Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley appellation. This Pinot Noir may be an age worthy wine and may have one or two more years of life left; although, it may not last too much longer, the last couple of ounces stayed in the glass four hours and was a little tired. I still have half a dozen bottles in the cellar and will review again soon to validate this tasting note. Great winemaking in a problematic year by Larry Londer and Joe Webb. I sure miss Larry and Shirley, I hope they are doing well in retirement.

  • I’ve been hoarding my last few bottles of Londer but felt it was time to enjoy this one. What a lovely wine that has mellowed some in a decade but still full of black fruits and spice. If you have any of this in your cellar, I feel like it could certainly rest comfortably for a few more years but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in opening it now. Londer made some terrific wine during their relatively short life as a winery, and I feel like this was certainly one of them. I see that there’s a mix of comments between the “Anderson Valley” and the “Estate”, it’s the Anderson Valley that I’m enjoying as I write this. Cheers to the Londer family, with thanks for the great wines!

  • This review is for the Londer Estate Grown Anderson Valley. It appears that the notes on this page are for both the regular Anderson Valley and the Estate Grown Anderson Valley. There is a great deal of difference between the wines. While we very much enjoy the regular Anderson Valley, the Estate Grown is a far more complex and substantive wine. Londer is our favorite CA Pinot producer. Sadly, they are no longer in business. Over the years, we purchased several dozen cases of wine from them. Of all their offerings, we liked the Estate Grown best. As of 2019, the 2010 Estate Grown is at the top of its game. It has matured to a dark magenta color with a ripe berry nose. On the palate it exhibits jammy ripe raspberry, blackberry and dark cherry, with a hint of fennel. This wine received a well-deserved and very rare 95 from us.
