Nose of cocoa, coffee and faint fruit jam. On the palate, ripe black fruit upfront -- but quickly leads into the cocoa, tobacco flavors. After 1 hour of decant, flavors and tannins are seamlessly integrated resulting in silky mouthfeel. This is a beautiful wine. Ready to drink but would decant 1 -2 hours. 93

Nose: When first poured, aromas of earth, manure, and sweet cloves, over time, those dissipated and were succeeded by aromas of dried rose petals, ripe red plums and raspberries. Palate: Lots of fruit - flavors of ripe red plums, red currant and raspberry jam. Complementing the fruit were flavors of wintergreen, young leather and white pepper. The wine has med+, smooth tannins, med+ acidity, med+ body and a long finish.

One of two dinner wines, the other being the 2011 Cellar Cal Pla Black Slate Porrera Priorat. The priorat won by a small margin, but either is a terrifuc food wine. Pizza, of course.
