Popped and poured, first Buehler visit in awhile. Prototypical Cabernet Sauvignon nose, with a tilt toward blue fruit. Along with the fruit on the palate, there's a subtle green pepper note that I really enjoyed. Good acidity. There's life ahead for this, but it's in a nice spot now. Quite a value.

Blackberry, smoke and pepper notes were the highlights. This particular vintage of Papa's Knoll doesn't seem to be well thought of, but my bottle showed balance, flavor and class.

The wine has a deep red color. Some nose, and pleasant taste that could have come from a lighter wine. Not a big heavy red, although the alcohol is over 14%. I was hoping for a bigger taste. But clearly professionally made. This would pair well with most foods that normally pair with red wines.

Pop/pour. A blue fruit rendition of cab fruit. Relatively straight forward and linear. Decent flavors, but not terribly complex. Some tannins make a presence with time in the glass. Though fairly priced for what it is, I've enjoyed prior vintages more.
This did not compare favorably to a 2010 Pott Arsenal also opened. Granted, there's a 3x price differential, but the two weren't in the same league. I opened this to determine if there was a need to reorder. Not for me. This occupies "no man's land" for me. It's good, but not good enough to compete with the best. And at $36, it makes me wonder if I couldn't find something as compelling closer to $20. I'll check in on the next vintage hoping this one is an anomaly.
