Dark reddish purple and a watery rim with an aromatic bordeaux nose of dark fruits, oak, cedar, tobacco, herbs and purple flowers. The palate is medium-bodied at best, quite dry and simple but balanced with notes of red and black fruits, coffee, black tea, vanilla oak and inky minerals. Surprisingly, the finish is rather weak and a little bit lacking in concentration and flavor for my taste considering the intense color and amazing nose. In other words, it was kind of a let down after the wonderful nose and initial attack.
The wine is clear and bright with a deep ruby colour.
The nose is clean and developing, showing pronounced intensity aromas of oak (cedar, vanilla, clove), pungent spices (black pepper), herbaceous notes (green bell pepper), black fruits (dark plums, dark cherries).
The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium(+) acidity. It has medium(+) fine-grained tannins and a medium(+) alcohol. It has a full body and pronounced intensity flavours of oak (cedar, vanilla, clove), pungent spices (black pepper), herbaceous notes (green bell pepper), black fruits (dark plums, dark cherries). The finish is long.
It is an outstanding quality wine. The alcohol is very well balanced by the acidity and tannins, the flavours are very concentrated and the finish is persistent. It also shows a lot of complexity provided by oak ageing and spicy notes.
Can drink now, but it has enough tannic and acidic structure, as well as fruit concentration, to develop more complex tertiary aromas over the next 5-8 years.
