We recreated the Lawrys prime rib menu since they closed in chicago and wanted to put this against a La Jota of the same vintage for a battle of the 93’s. 3 hour decant for both wines. However this was just so youthful at 30 years of age, definitely hitting its stride. If you cellaring bottles you won’t be disappointed. Luckily I have one more.

Last tasted in 1999 and is still in the 94-95 range as it was back then. This bottle has aged well. Still lots of fruit, black currants, plums, blackberries, and chocolate in the nose and flavor. An elegant wine with nice complexity, full body, and a long finish.

Decanted two bottles into a large decanter and left to sit for about 1 hour. Deep red/purple color. Supurb nose of red fruit, and fabulous in the mouth. Tannins have melted away. Wine is absolutely ready and wonderful. Drank with a course of grilled lamb chops, a near idea pairing I think. From the host's cellar.
