Pale brownish-red color. Slightly spicy nose. Light and still bright on the plate, but somewhat faded with red-fruits and some spice. Faded tannins, light acidity, decent balance. Finishes long and gradual, bit sharp. Well past prime but still giving some pleasure. Throws a fine sediment.

Ridge Monte Bello component tasting (and a Meursault!) (Ridge Vineyards, Santa Cruz, CA): Overridden by brett - dog fur, manure, bitter aromas. Thin on the palate.

Blind Tasting 1980-87 Ridge Geyservilles (Rich & Peggy's House, Los Altos, CA): Super bretty nose, possibly the most bretty wine I've ever smelled. Ripe cherry and brett on the palate. (my 6th, group's 5th)

9 Famous Zinfandels with some age on them. (Walnut Creek, Ca.): Nice rich nose of old fruit, raspberry, opened gracefully, lovely, raspberry taste, lovely wine, big body, and a lovely, long, intense finish. My #1 of 9.
