Very light in colour, slight yellow with hints of green and gold. Classic light to medium chenin nose with lanolin, beeswax, straw and wool. Light to medium bodied palate with similar flavours and a hint of butterscotch. Gains body with air and warmer temperatures, but its an elegant style. Stelvin closure means a consistent experience for each bottle - excellent (B+)!
Hazy notes from last week. Interesting to see the very varied notes on this wine, which perhaps reflects the somewhat controversial nature of Loire chenin: it's an acquired taste, if my friends' reactions are anything to go by. Lovely chenin here, with all the quirky flavours (wet wool, lanolin) that defines the Lolire versions, and nice concentration and balance. Very nice for a basic' domain wine. Drinking well now, but will last too (B+/A-).
Tasted blind. Sea breeze, driftwood, minerals. Challenging nose. What is this? Quite tight on the palate as well, not giving much clue. Needs time. Not sure whether this is pleasant or merely interesting. Savennieres? Menetou-Salon? In the end I went with Savennieres which was a very lucky break. I almost never nail wines that I don't drink regularly.
