  • What a total surprise. Had not tried this wine in many years. Spur of the moment double decant and pour. Drank over 2 hours. Typical Wendouree brick colour. Nose was subtle so was not expecting much fruit. However the wine was a full bodied, smooth balanced classic Wendouree Shiraz. Lovely wine, great finish. Drink over next 2-5 yrs. At its prime but not heading over the cliff.

  • Black core ruby rim.
Sweet bright sherbet cassis fruit fragrance. Some light tar and licorice.
Soft and fleshy but with good acidity and fine tannins. Sweet red and black fruits, sherbet zest, gentle and well integrated oak, a hint of earth, hints of tar and licorice. Delicious drinking.

  • Wendouree Back Vintage Masterclass (Bishan): Tasted semi-blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of fresh blackcurrant, black cherries, blackberries, raisins, menthol mint. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.3%), damm smooth slick high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, blackcurrant, blackberries, raisins, black plums, dark licorice, dark spices. Long finish.
Outstanding quality. The mouth-feel of this is so damm good! Mouth-filling flavour yet glides around so effortlessly on the palate. Still on the young side, this will go on to develop into greatness over the next 5+ years!

  • As good as any shiraz I've had. Smooth full bodied so much fruit. Great strong tanins, great flavour. Such a great wine.

  • Some Wendouree: Jawdropping. This is absolutely spectacular with a perfumed, intoxicating fragrance and a palate presence that combines intensity and depth with remarkable finesse. There is amazing complexity here - layers of dark berried fruit, coal smoke, tree bark, and the signature Wendouree eucalyptus/mintiness, and with air more savoury meaty and briny notes emerge. There's remarkable depth and breadth on the palate, and a finish that seems to keep unfolding for minutes. It's still incredibly young with plenty of acid and tannic structure beneath the fruit that only slightly softens with a decant, but this is already an incredible experience.
