Label was is in rough shape but not the wine. Smelled like you had stuck your nose right into a cigar box, lovely tobacco with some leather notes. Initially a bit austere with some greenness but opened up quickly with those tobacco and leather notes again on the palate. Surprisingly long finish.

A dark rose in colour. Still a slightly farmy nose and on the palate a bit of St. Estephe austerity but there really is so little fruit now. To be fair it did not deteriorate over time n the glass but really does lack charm if just about still alive.

Wine went through several iterations over time. Started out a bit tired. Nose was never that expressive, but on the palate it had 45 minutes or so where the fruit was nice and round(and red) the tannins fully resolved. Nice drinking tonight. Don't think they should be held much longer, unless very cold storage.

The cork appeared to be compromised, so this didn't quite make it to fifty. I was going to slow ox this but the wine smelled great upon opening in the morning. I recorked it for dinner later. This wine was fantastic, I hope the rest of my 67's are as good next year. Good fruit and acidity, opened up quite nicely. Certainly not over the hill.
