  • Double-decanted off its sediment about 2 hours before serving. The extra air seems to have done some good, because this bottle was even livelier, richer and more complex than my last one, belying its relatively light color.

  • Falling between the classic years of '70 and '77, this is an overshadowed vintage that was not declared by many houses. Pours a light, translucent ruby with a bit of browning at the rim. Much lighter than a typical vintage port; more like a ruby. The nose is fantastic, however, and completely unexpected considering the color. Explodes with fig, tobacco and black pepper aromas, with a thick and unctuous texture. Walnut skin, raisins, blackberries, and just the right amount of sweetness. Finishes a bit hot and spicy, and although it is a bit unbalanced, the flavors here are complex and quite lovely. Wine Spectator rated this a 74 which I find utterly absurd.

  • A very nice bottle of aged port.
The nose was was not very attratctive, smelled like acetone, but the palate was very good, even if on the lighter side. Quite a lof of fruit left and with a very supportive sweetness.
No tannins and perfectly integrated. Drink now.
    Perfectly stored since release.

  • very light red, the body feels light as well. Sweet, a bit fragile but very elegant. Not the longest finish, but a nice one. Liked the Vintage quite a lot.

  • Very light and almost brown in color. Just an incredible nose for an almost 45 year old bottle. Fantastic texture that lingers on the palate forever. Drank this bottle over two weeks and it was just as good at the end as when I opened it. This all from what was not an overly well regarded vintage (WS rated the vintage an 89 and the wine was supposedly past peak).
