Showed surprising textures including tobacco, cedar, and chocolate. Opened up and accompanied well entrecote and cote de boeuf meals which had been slightly smoked with woodchips on bbq.

Wow, what an impressive wine from a pretty mediocre year. I've had quite a few Lascombes from the '70s-early '80s recently and every one of them has been quite good. How and when Rauzan-Segla took over the second-growth crown in Margaux is a mystery to me when I taste these wines compared to RS from that era. Still quite youthful in color, with a lighter shade of ruby and some slight orange at the rim. Classic Margaux floral nose, accented by cedar and plum. Plenty of (mostly red) fruit left in the bottle, along with good acidity and soft tannins. Based on other notes, it seems like this was a good bottle.

Lasted 30 minutes before becoming a wine that was well past peak. For those 30 minutes, expressions of terroir, dusty berry finish. Enjoyable but then flat.

מפגש תרבות יום א (at Haim Straze): pale red-tawny med(+) aromas intensity of dry cherries, cranberries, raspberries, oak-vanilla, earthy, advanced oxidation but still very enjoyable; developed; dry, high acidity, med tannins, med abv, med(-) body, med flavors consistent with the nose, long finish, lacks complexity and fruitiness; drink now!
