Surprisingly good for a Merlot the drink dates suggested is "over the hill" six years. It has that classic flat palate associated with Merlots of the time, but with peppery notes that made it more interesting. Very balanced in its Merlot way, as well, with medium body.

Notes of ripe strawberry and a touch of molasses (?) on the nose. Inky deep purple. Mouthcoating with ripe berries and pepper. Balanced and lengthy finish. I'm typically not a big fan of Merlot, but thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great balance of fruit, spice, and tannin.

Waited too long, not as good as its sister bottle also consumed recently, but still very good.
