File this under: go with your initial instinct. I tried it a year ago at a tasting and was unimpressed, but when I saw it as a closeout for 50% off, I bit and proceeded to find that it didn't do much for me on the second try either. This wine had relatively complex tannins and good length, but the fruit component was lacking for me. This wasn't a sweet Cali PN, but it didn't suggest Burgundy either - just in between and sort of boring.
EXCELLENT This wine sort of took me on a ride, which was fun. Popped and poured. Classic Pinot to start. Red berries, plums, earth and leaves. Slowly the fruit took over. Still yummy. Then at the 1 hour mark the tannins exploded and started to rip my mouth apart. Points were being deducted... Then at the 2 hour mark it started to settle and became a big chewy, fruity, California Pinot, with a real nice long finish.
