  • Dark ruby color, legs slow to develop and held together for a good amount of time. Not much on the nose even after about 20 minutes after opening. Light aroma of cranberry, with a bit of smoke. Medium-full bodied, smooth with a dry clean finish that fades fairly quickly. I give it an an 87. Good everyday drinking wine, but I would drink this up over the next few years or so.

  • Well, I hesitated to open but was desparate in Rotterdam with no good Bordeaux in sight :-). Opened and it was amazingly approachable and fabulous. Classic Margaux style in all ways but not as tannic and rustic as I would expect from 2011. It was, after 2-3 hours and into the next day, very smooth on the palate with medium weight, creamy and subtle notes of red fruit and chocolate with mushrooms. Good but short finish. Not an amazing wine but under the circumstances it was great for the evening. Sorry, don't remember more than that since we were at dinner.

  • Overall this is a très Margaux wine with beautiful oak and a lot of finesse. The bouquet is still quite reticent. On the palate beautiful and elegant oak, cassis, dark fruits ok acidity, tannin and bitterness. Not extremely concentrated, but a very pleasant and friendly wine. Early maturity probably around 2018 and fully mature around 2023 – 2025. Nice and elegant wine.

  • Commanderie de Bordeaux tasting/dinner. Medium garnet. Quite a toasty nose with lots of oak. On the palate nice and soft, not over extracted. Pleasant if you like the modern style.

    (Château du Tertre (Margaux)) Rather ripe and soft fruit character here. A dark and slightly grainy edge to the fruit. Rather a vegetal character in the mouth though, with soft and diffuse fruit. Most disconcerting of all there is a very green character here. Difficulties with ripeness or selection. perhaps? I find it to be smoky, oily, brassica-like and certainly not appealing to this palate.
