  • A big disappointment. This bottle has oxidized and the fruit is mostly gone. Decanted, let stand , tried again in 24 hours - still no improvement.

  • Really coming into its own, resolved tannin, balanced acids, black cherry accented with smoke and espresso. Nice textural mouthfeel, long finish with a nice ferric tang. B++

  • Time has greatly helped this wine. I tried it in '12 and again in '15 but this was very angular with very little fruit showing.
Last night, it took 30 minutes for some funk to blow off, and allow the ripe cherry fruit to become the main event.
Very round, but still with some framing tannins and oak still showing.
I believe after last nights experience this will continue to improve for at least another 5 years.

  • Seems like this wine has not changed at all in the past few years, it doesn;t seem to be aging. Popped an hour before dinner to see if opening it early might allow it to loose up. A bit tannic and astringent at the start, after some time a nice bit of a sour cherry finish imerged, but never got there.
More elbows than fruit.... Maybe it needs another 5-10 years

  • Keeps changing in the glass throughout the evening. Quite woody tannins still and acidity on the sharper side. The fruit varies from tart cherries to ripe darker fruit. Youthful and quite rustic at once, not at all bad, but not great like the La Dominode.

Burghound

Burgundy-Report

(Pavelot Jean-Marc et Hugues Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Guettes) Pronounced 'Gets', the shallow soil is quite rich and full of chalky stones. A little more (20%) new oak is used in the elevage. Just a little deeper colour again. The nose is primary showing real depth - cherry/kirsch. A denser expression in the mouth, tighter too. Whilst the previous wine was a little fresher, this is all-round more profound. The dryish tannin clings to your lips. Finishing strongly, this is a real vin-de-garde, and very good it is too.
