Dujac village Morey St Denis - and wow. Nose reminded me of the Leroy Vosne. It had a dusty fruit component. On taste this is bright fruit driven with a cracking good finish. Good intensity of fruit flavors with some spicy overtones. Nice! It still has this nice spine where the flavors entwine. Tannins resolved at this point. I have had other Moreys from Dujac and found them darker, more intense, and I did notice the stems - or so I thought. This wine was light, ethereal, and a real pleasure. For a wine from 97 this was still very primary but the tannins resolved. No tertiary flavors at all and the stems not here at all although I know Dujac is one of the makers that follow DRC and Leroy with whole cluster fermentation. This is elegant, intense with fruit, outstanding. One of the top bottles I have had so far. The Leroy a bit better but this is close.

Evolved garnet color. Spicy, complex nose that somehow reminds me (and I am not alone...) of....a good German Spätburgunder...go figure. Rather prominent wood still (this is almost 10 years old). The whole package, despite the very ripe vintage also shows some green notes hinting at less than perfectly ripe grapes. First impression on the palate is a curious mixture of jammy, smoky fruit, but again a displeasing green dill-pickle note is detectable as well. After some air, it got better on the palate with more fruit showing, but astill not a really great exammple of a village Morey. I found the 98 version of this wine much more to my liking. Drink now to 2009.
