From well stored magnum. Decanted. Dried cherry aromas with cigarbox. Another taster thought there was more cranberry. Meaty and weighty on palate with good black cherry and cassis still coming through, just slightly behind the expected earthy evolution. Best I can ever recall for this wine.
44-year-old. Of course it is old and mature but it is still lively. Nose: cedar, 山渣，slightly smoky and brown sugar and some fruit still there. Palate, soft, medium body, tannin is almost gone, very elegant, nice acidity n salty aftertaste for 20s. It is out of expectation.
Monopole: Healthy pale ruby with bricking and good rim fading; pot pouri aromas, light dried herbs, dried flower petals, light brown spice, delicate, beautiful nose; silky, tannins fully resolved, slight small forest berry notes, nice bit of acidity in the finish to keep it alive, but not much left in the mouth, a bit thin and weak mid-palate. Lovely, no faults, but about 8-10 years past its prime for this vintage, although I would not complain in finishing this bottle. Just not at $350.
