Aroma: meaty, smoky red and black berry aromas with hints of savory herbs. Palate: savory and meaty flavors with notes of chocolate and dark berries. Low to moderate acidity and nicely mature and integrated tannin. Good complexity. Interesting and unusual.

We liked it, but there are better wines for the price. The word that came to those of us tasting it was "okay." There was not really anything noteworthy about it. Don't need any more.

Many layers that evolved over the course of 24hrs. Nose: Ripe Cherry, Blackberry Jam, flowers, violets, wet stones, cut grass, and black pepper, all over some oak. A bit of burnt rubber at the start that dissipated with time. Palate: Soft mouth feel, black fruit, currants, cloves, leading to a long finish. Mouvedre (20%) clearly comes through on the nose and palate. Beautifully appealing now while young but likely to fully mature and integrate in a couple of years. Almost too much oak now, hopefully will integrate with time. I noted Kikkula in my top 3 - 4 favorites from the 2012 Rhone Rangers tasting and didn't buy, rediscovered them at the 2013 Rhone Rangers where I ranked them the top red Rhone blends of the wine tasting dinner.
