  This was a great wine. For some reason I have a soft spot for California wines that bring with them a hint of the old world. The aroma and flavor of this wine had some earthy notes that bring to mind a few burgundies I've had. However they were balanced nicely with some very rich (but not overpowering) fruit flavors. This wine had great presence. It was strong and interesting enough to command attention even over the kids yelling at dinner.

  Big flavor, perfect with chocolate and a few minutes after the bottle was opened up it smoothed out and was even better than the first taste. It was delicious.
