  • 13% alc; Deep mahogany to an expansive brick red rim
Bouquet of stewed damson, forest undergrowth, tar, liquorice, old leather jacket, rumtopf (marinated) fruit.
Medium-bodied with a firm, chalky texture, ripe fruits (yet only 13% alcohol) flavours and lively acidity. The fruit displays damson, raisin, date, dried figs with cigar box and a rock dust edge.
The mid-palate is very linear in shape and the tannin has a leather belt tightness that feels abrasive and chewy set against the ripe fruits. Fair concentration, with clear development, it seems past its nadir of development and snaking downwards through a rock-strewn path. Good length although I picked up a hint of modernization as the wine opened further and a slight metallic/ferrous note.
