Served at the Domaine blind. This was a totally beautiful wine, with classic white fruit, honeysuckle, not insignificant weight and fullness on the mouth. Touch of dilution on the mid-palate, but that is the vintage. Caramel freshness, apricots and strawberries even. Fine acidity matched with lovely sweetness. A rare treat.
This was tasted straight FROM the domaine, albeit not at the domaine. Wonderful, wonderful, sound white. No words to describe it. Simply the best white wine I ever had, maybe my best wine ever altough not sure. Enough to say it could stand and win the pairing with a braised beef. Again, no poetry will speak highly enough of this wine.
Tasted in the cellars of DRC. This was a once in a lifetime visit and the 4 hours we spent at the Domaine were truly a pleasure. I cannot thank our hosts at DRC enough for arranging such a special tour and tasting. Their modesty combined with their passion for the wines are truly remarkable. I had absolutely NO IDEA that DRC made a Batard Montrachet. Apparently the produce 1 barrel each year and it is only consumed at the Domaine or by the family. First time I have ever had to create a wine on Cellartracker. Out of the wines we tasted, this was by far the best. Just a beautiful White Burgundy. Golden in color with honey, citrus fruit and and marzipan on the nose. The palate matched the nose with some pineapples that were balanced with the right amount of minerality. The finish lasted forever. What an experience and what a treat.
