  • Exotic, firm, sappy, spicy mouthful.
NOSE > Violet, lavender, white-peach, nectarine, lime-oil, snow-pea pod, pungent smoldering sage, red-cherry, tart-cherry, bayberry, licorice, & lanolin. Very fresh, lively, BIG flowery, complex perfume.
    PALATE > nectarine/tart-nectarine, pungent lime-flesh, quince, guava,
    red-cherry/tart-cherry, cactus-fruit, wild-blueberry, bayberry, sage, lavender, & star-fruit, with a hint of egg-custard.
Med+ intensity. Excellent balance, length. Excellent acidity - great for an '11. Drinks like a Spatlese - Surprise! What Kabi's don't these days?
Spicier, & more exotic than the '11 Erdener Treppchen Kab, but equally impressive. (91+)

  • Fairly complex aroma - spearmint, petrol, black tea, cool boysenberry and apple, stone, and fleeting notes of citrus rind, earth, nutmeg, and cumin. On the palate, sweet-tart, lightly honeyed pineapple, mango, golden and green apples, boysenberry, mint, and some spice developing in the finish. Decent length, ending up dry and slightly bitter at the very end. A touch of spritz. Plenty of acidity; good balance. Fresh, tasty, and interesting wine. Liked the 2012, but liking this 2011 even more right now.

  • Nice wine.
Sweet apple, pear, honey and vanilla.
Good balance with the fruit flavors and with acid.
Rich smooth flavors, but not overpowering. Had with upscale asian food and the combo worked well.

Will need to buy some more - 91+ points

  • Very pale yellow. Nose of apple, pear and melon. Fruit and acidity are in perfect balance. Very rich and concentrated, with laser-like precision. Gorgeous!

  • Christmas party. Mineral with lime, a little sweetness that is refreshingly balanced by the acidity.

(Joh. Jos. Christoffel Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett) ($26.00) If you think it’s a “normal” Kabinett again, don’t be shocked to learn it’s over 100º Oechsle. I guess 100 is the new-normal or something, yet the wine tastes wonderful and not at all over-endowed. Feline and curvy, and the core of fruit is delicious and impressive, and sometimes it can be about fruit, you know? *
