(René Geoffroy "Cuvée Volupté" Brut) ($89.00) This, along with Lallement’s “Reserve” and Varnier’s “Cuvée St Denis” are the three top values in this entire offering. It’s all ’06, disgorged 2/11. 80%CH – 20%PN, 94% in wooden vats, no malo. And a splendid fragrance! A gorgeously successful vintage of this cuvée, very dry but crammed with charm and finesse. Corn, lime and balsam; explosively expressive and classy, with coconut and ginger nuances. I wonder whether this money will buy higher quality anywhere in Champagne?!?
