Opened by Indybob. The 2nd Geoffroy champagne I've had. The other being the Rosé de Saignée which was of similar quality. Served slightly too warm but it still showed very well. Moderate bead. Notes of peanuts and brioche. 91 points.

(René Geoffroy Champagne Volupté Brut Premier Cru) Light yellow color with few tiny bubbles; poached pear, baked apple, cinnamon nose; tasty, tart and ripe pear, poached pear palate; medium finish (80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, 94% in wooden vats, no malolactic)
(René Geoffroy "Cuvée Volupté" Brut) ($89.00) This, along with Lallement’s “Reserve” and Varnier’s “Cuvée St Denis” are the three top values in this entire offering. It’s all ’06, disgorged 2/11. 80%CH – 20%PN, 94% in wooden vats, no malo. And a splendid fragrance! A gorgeously successful vintage of this cuvée, very dry but crammed with charm and finesse. Corn, lime and balsam; explosively expressive and classy, with coconut and ginger nuances. I wonder whether this money will buy higher quality anywhere in Champagne?!?
