Still has a disturbing note, both on the nose and palate, of something I can't identify. It reminds me a bit of citronella, but it could just be very flowery. I don't think my bottles are flawed, but I'm not certain.
Notes from day 2. This really showed it's stuff- nose of fresh dark berries, meat, smoke, olives and some violets. The palate is evolving and rather focused on similar notes as the nose. Solid streak of acid and mineral/stone throughout. I think this will be keep getting better for 5-10 years. Outstanding qpr.
I’ve heard of wines being in their “dumb stage” early in their bottled life, and I’m wondering if that’s what I have here. It doesn’t seem to have much verve or integration. This is a wine that does not blow me away with fruit. There are some hints of cherry, but mainly I get a mineral or stone flavors. Gripping tannin and some acid tartness. Actually, my kind of wine because I don’t feel like I’m drinking Kool-aid, or cough syrup. We will check back on this one next year.
Opened on a whim, with no decant. This wine is way too young right now, but shows strong potential for the future. Nicely structured, but disjointed, this got significantly better with 24hrs in the open bottle. Cool climate fruit profile, with enough acid-tannin structure to pair well with food. Very floral and mineral driven. Not fair to rate this now, but if I had to, 91+.
