New World in style, bold, fruity, and lots of oak, which is unexpected for an Old World wine, and one from Puglia no less. The abundant fruit component is fairly dry and peppery, very much Primitivo-like. It finishes at the back and roof of the mouth with gripping, peppery tannins, the most interesting aspect of this wine.
I didn't really care for this, other than the finish, its fairly boring. It lacks complexity and there is a problem with balance, probably because of the oakfest. California Zin-like in boldness and peppery notes, but drier, with little character and lots of oak. If it wasn't so big I would rate it 85-86.

Very good with washed rind cheeses. Offsets the bitter well. Very light tannins

Slight pepper nose with Oak notes. Slightly earthy mid notes with a licorice finish. Good but nothing special.
