  • I was nervous on pnp as it tasted quite oxidized and tannic, but when in doubt...always give more time to breath. Sure enough, an hour later it was good to go and got better as the night went along. This is not a cocktail wine, but a great food wine that paired nicely to homecooked Italian dinner to celebrate a 1979 birth year.

  • This was opened and allowed to breath for 3 hours before dinner. When it was poured at first I thought it had a ton of sediment, but actually there was none... it was just ridiculous cloudy. The color was very hazy, light brown/red. It looked way older than it is. Actually, the whole way through, this wine came across way older than it is. It has pleasing acidity on the palate and finish, but all of the flavors were on the stale fruit side, with some gritty tannins, reminding us of some old books. Overall a fine wine, but not one of the better '79s I've had, and this particular wine has seen its best days a while back.

(Francesco Rinaldi e Figli Barolo) Bricked medium red color with light floating sediment; VA, maderized, walnut oil, ginger cake nose that cleans up after 30 minutes in the glass; medium bodied, tart cherry, ripe red berry, light ginger cake palate, better than nose would suggest; medium-plus finish
