  Wow, last bottle in '12 huh? Well, drinking well. Certainly mature, evolved, and probably drink up status at this point. Tannins fully integrated. Medium garnet color. Super meaty on the nose with notes of dried meats and beef blood, along with crushed rocks, dark fruits, tobacco, and dried spices. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of meat and tart dark and dark red fruits carrying through, along with some lemon and minerals. Fruit is a supporting actor here, as opposed to a lead role. Worked well with an earthy black eyed pea, mustard greens, and sausage stew.

  Unbelievable for the price. After all this time, much of my original note seems so wrong. Nice, peppery nose, floral, red berries. Medium body, but lots of dark flavors on the palate. Dry on the back end, medium finish. Really tasty, great QPR.

  Nose: Tight and brooding. The first word that comes to mind is gamey; there's blood and raw meat, animal fur, and dust, as well as some charcoal. I get almost no fruit at all, maybe a slight whiff of cherry skin, if anything.
  
  Mouthfeel: Rather light for syrah, but firm.
  
  Palate: Again very masculine and rustic. Dominated by savory flavors of charred meat, bacon, pepper, iron, and soil. You get a little bit of sour cherry and brambly red fruit eventually, but it is very much in the background. The finish is bone dry, all black pepper and mineral, with a little kick of acid and moderate but firm tannin.
  
  This is interesting, old school stuff. Very little fruit, lots of savoriness, mineral, and game. Very food friendly and well made. Not profound but a nice change of pace, and great QPR. I recommend decanting.

  Huge amount of pepper hits the nose it's almost intoxicating. Red meat juice, pepper, puppy fur, spam, spinach, and black tea are blended in an absolute old world style with a tannic grip that shows its aging potential yet retains elegance of medium body frame.
  This will appeal to Burgundy lovers as well. How did this great wine get sold at $15?
  Label says 12-14% alc, and this feels like 12-12.5% on my face.

  I like this. Unmistakably syrah with its black pepper dominated profile, along with dark fruit, soil, mineral, and an herbal/vegetal note. Lighter to medium bodied on the palate with consistent notes and great acidity, making this a great food pairing option (great with pomegranate and fennel pork chops). Medium finish, nice balance, and quite enjoyable overall. Good QPR at ~$15.
