was kind of disappointed in this bottle, but it also came at the end of an eveneing after a bunch of other wines.. spur of the moment opening, and probably not a good time to drink or evaluate it....will reserve judgement for another bottle.
Relatively full-bodied for an Anthill pinot, this has plenty of fruit and spice. Less acidity than expected. This is certainly not a modern fruit-bomb, however, just heavier than most of the Anderson Valley Anthills I've had.
Approachable now and in a good place. Palate is spicier than the relatively tight nose indicates at first, and the red fruits register with good intensity and sappy depth. This Mendocino wine has much in common with good pinots from Anderson Valley, with a touch of extra strawberry ripeness and velvety tannins making this wine feel just a bit lush. Balanced by cranberry acidity, this is a pleasurable and lively pinot.
