A pronounced perfume of black cherries, kirsch, and ripe fruit. I can describe in a way that does it justice - it smells like great Cabernet. Cola, herb, mint thing (from half bottle, just off the cork pull). Pure and lean mid-palate, great elegance, finesse and balance. Singing acidity on the back of the palate. One for the long haul.
Again quite classical Cabernet fruit with notes of cedar, tobacco, smoke and spice box. A little bigger than Smith-Madrone's 2010 in comparison, more backward, more mineral. Powerful, great balance and persistence. Very good. Will benefit from a couple of more years in the cellar. 91-92+
Dense dark black fruit aromas. This has a fabulous texture, silky and light on its feet, but also full of flavour. Layers of black fruits, leather and spice weave across the palate. Great acidity with a smoky, cigar box finish. Excellent.
Leathery black fruit aromas. Lovely silky texture with grip and finesse. The fruit has a cedary savoury edge, perfectly poised between the ripe blackcurrant and the tobacco and cigar box character. Very classically styled with a lovely freshness.
