I last enjoyed this wine back in April 2014 at a large tasting, thought is was “good”, high quality, but still young...there were many more “accessible” wines that night. I’ve enjoyed lots of highly regarded 2010 Napa Cabs since then, but unbeknownst to me,I found three of these which have been sitting “untouched” in my cellar since 2015; tonight was the night to revisit one of these to see if there had been some “reasonable” improvement....
A “WOW” wine tonight. Opened and slow Ox’ed for an hour, decanted for an additional hour before enjoying with a chargrilled, rare ribeye steak, mushrooms, and sautéed spinach. Reflects a deep, opaque purple color, very full bodied with 15.2% alcohol (high). Seems to be in the mid to latter stages of development. Pronounced aromas and flavors of black currant, crushed blackberry, black cherry liqueur, ripe black plum, smokey anise, dark chocolate, black coffee, chewy tobacco, and a huge, moist black earth component. Big, rich and concentrated mouthfeel. Extremely well balanced and integrated, as tannins, oak, and acidity are well balanced; high alcohol mitigated with the hearty food. Long, long dry and persistent finish. Drinking extremely well, but I’m not sure it’s at peak. Can drink now, but likely to improve with further cellaring. Should drink well for another 5-8 years, or beyond. 👍

Blackberry, high-toned raspberry, dried herbs and flowers, tobacco, cocoa. Moderately complex, nice mouthfeel. A little sharp to me even after a long decant, but otherwise tasty.

Tannins have softened and the wine is drinking well. Nose is good but starting to age. Dry and leathery. This was a split so would be interested in seeing a comparison to the 750. No reason to wait, drink up.
