Community Tasting Notes (10) Avg Score: 90.7 points

  • Opened 90 mins before, and decanted (at the restaurant) 1 hour before drinking, primarily with a dish of lobster with grapefruit, pomegranate and tarragon.

On the nose the semillon was very much to the fore, and this followed through to the palate, where there was also a quite strong dryness (quite different from the richness of semillon or the acidity of sauvignon). The wine evolved over the hour we took to drink it, and in a good direction, becoming more rounded and well-integrated. But it does need to be kept reasonably cool (10-12 degrees) to avoid becoming cloying.

Overall this performed well, particularly against grapefruit, which is a nightmare for wine pairing. If I manage to get any more bottles (and I will if I can) then I will try to give them several hours of air.

  • 93 points on the nose alone.

Lemon green color, leads to an intense and exotic nose redolent of tropical fruit like mango, lichy, passionfruit and pineapple and pronounced notes of gooseberry. Gooseberry galore on the palate.
The acidity is a bit high and stingy which subtracts 1 point.
Oka well integrated and quite yummy.

  • Very grassy and herbal on the nose, just a hint of honeysuckle. This is a full bodied white, round, lots of acid, mineral, lemon peel, and cobblestones on the palate. A lot going on. This went well with ravioli; it cut the garlic in the sauce like a knife. I can appreciate the craft that went into making this wine.

  • Very bright. Pale straw colour. The Sauvignon blanc dominates at this time, with predominant aromas of gooseberry, long grass, pineapple. On the palate, bright and long, with delightful acidity and good fruit. I'll wait another two years to open the next one--by then the semillon will have rounded out the flavour profile as the Sauvignon subsides a little.

  • Creamy, citrus fruit, herbs on the nose. Nice minerality, good persistence, really fresh. 80-91
