First sip offers the characteristic sweet strawberries, sour cherries, rosehip, leather, gravel road and roses. Pretty classic nose. Great depth. Solid structure on the palate, young but juicy tannins who quickly let go in the aftertaste. A lovely note of rosehip dominates the palate. After 4 hours the wine is less sweet on the nose and is more driven by leather, rosehip and moist undergrowth. Nice development with air and with a couple of more years I think the Acclivi will outmatch the Monvigliero which I find to be far to jammy and sweet at the moment.
Cherries, strawberries, dark chocolate, vanilla and rosehip. Lively and elegant fruit. The palate delivers a solid structure and a substantial tanninstructure. Still young but definitely approachable right now, especially with food. This will develop nicely.
Jammy strawberry nose and taste at first, as the 08 Monvigliero. Tightens up and gets leaner and more structured after an hour or two, with tart cranberry acidity and medium tannic grip. We like it more that way.
Opened a day before friend's gathering. Tasted a little bit and recorked. Big nose of fresh licorice, herbs, red currant. Tannin was very young but softened in next day. Very solid structure. Fresh red fruits mixing with vivid acidity got a hawthorn-like taste. Slightly salty. Intense cherry and red berry aftertaste. Not very fruity, but very classical and delicious. Very mild and elegant without any alcoholic feel. Drink smoothly and comfortably. Start approachable with breathing for 2+ hours before serving. Of course aging for a few years more is appreciated.
Nose: Quite closed in, the alcohol comes through, red currant, raspberries and a hint of oranges and fresh strawberries. The second day it opens up more, the alcohol was not as apparent, and it showed a lot more depth and floral tones. Taste: Light red fruit, very soft tannins, nice and crisp acidity Length: Quite short but well balanced and elegant. Summary: This is a careful wine with no apparent flaws. It definitely needs some air to open up and show its charm, but it is worth the wait. In some ways it reminds me of wines from Vosne-Romanée, which is not a bad reference. I only lack some more personality.
