  • Looks very fresh. By appearance I would not guess this was a 14 year old wine. Young vibrant nose. Jumps out of the glass with black cherries and orange peel. Medium bodied. Bright and fresh flavors. Starts with red cherry and finishes with darker fruits and a bit of richness. Medium acid. The tannin is there on the finish. My first thought was that this still has a ways to go but by the end of the night it had put on some weight and flavors had changed to a darker fruit profile. I am actually not used to such a change in a matter of hours. I say drink now because it is darn tasty.

  • Spice driven start with lots of black cherry and plum aromas and some background forest floor. Almost identical on the palate with just slightly more earth. Everything nery nice balance today, and I'd expect this should continue to be charming for another decade.

  • Dark red fruit; a bit ponderous. Big in the mouth. Homogeneous, but still tasty. At Ed's party.

  • Popped and poured (to accompany viewing of movie "Inception"). Darker ruby. Fulsome nose of black fruits, anise, violets, earth. Concentrated without excessive weight on the palate, with layers of black raspberry, holdiay spices, licorice, star anise, iodine, and leather. Nice balance between well-delineated fruit, moderate acidity, and still-structured tannins. Long, flavorful finish of dark fruits and earthy mineral notes. Alas, last bottle but excellent in every way.
