  • Aerate to decanter and serve. Color deep cherry red with black hues, clear, medium to full body, tiny bit of sediment. Lovely open bouquet of cherries, currants, tomato paste, tobacco, spice, and earth. On the palate there is excellent density of fruit, with baking spice and sweet pipe tobacco intermixed with cassis, red cherries, and coffee stretching into currants tinged with minerals, earth and leather. Medium acid, medium plus tannins providing some grip and drying effect in the finish. Overall this was really tasty and an excellent pairing with braised lamb shank in a savory tomato rosemary sauce over creamy grits with roasted brussel sprouts. Price I paid was 25, which was an outstanding value for what this delivers. Wish I had bought six more.

  • A nose of dark fruit and some spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied Cab, with black cherry, currant, plum, some vanilla and spice on finish, good not great. www.winelx.com
