Dinner with Siggy and Chis Larson: Bright ruby red color. Presents with a Burg-like nose of cherry, spice, cinammon, earth, and smoke. Excellent. The flavor is a deep earthy cherry. Nice -- with just enough acidity. Nice weight. A bit tannic -- drying on the finish. A very fun bottle of wine.

Dinner w/ Dave & Chris (Fugaise, Minneapolis): Dark cherries, cinnamon, and baking spices. Secondary flavors of earth/mushroom give this a quite Burgundian profile. Still tannic. There is a whiff of the same VA that affected the 1995, tasted side-by-side (see TN). While it intensified a bit with some air, it mainly stayed in the background and enhanced the overall character of the wine. I really liked this.

Served with an excellent risotto. Dark ruby red color. Pleasant nose of candied cherry and earth. Very smooth on the palate giving sour black cherry and a slight soda taste. A little thin on the finish. Minimal tannin. This is a very nice wine that was probably slightly past peak but still enjoyable.
