  • Not yet ready! The wine is close and resisting to open. After 6 hours decanting, I barely can detect fruit but cedar and only a hint of blue berry. However, on the palate, it is so complex. Dark berry, licorice, and cocoa powder are found. The ripen tannin makes a good and long lasting. The wine is still too young now, but it will hit a higher score in five or more years (probably to 92~93). This wine should be able to survive for 2 decades.

  • Nice wine, but this still needs more time in the cellar or a long decant.

    Drank this over 2 days, with an initial hour decant. Smoothed out on the second day, but tannins still present.

    Dark fruits with Sour cherry, spices and herbal flavors. Still has strong tannins and youthful profile.

    Will give this another 3 - 5 years in the cellar before I try another one.

  • Drank over three days, alongside a 2010 Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nouva Brunello di Montalcino and a 2010 Grand-Puy-Lacoste. Focused bouquet of Italian and red plum, blackberry, blackcurrant, pomegranate, peppers, graphite, Italian herbs, Tuscan dust, ink, charcuterie, tomatoes, and meatiness upon opening. The wine has opened considerably since last March. Richness on the attack transitions to a highly appealing texture, backed by powerful weight and structure at the middle and back. The focused and layered finish does not quit.

    On the second and third days the wine also added tobacco, thyme, rosemary, sanguinity, and intense minerality. These and all the elements from the first day melded into a pure, harmonious elixir of exceptional depth and complexity, each phase revealing intriguing nuance. Powerful acid, refined tannins, and exquisite balance given its power. Beautiful now, better in time. This is likely a twenty five to thirty year wine from today. If scoring for right now, 97, 98-99 in time. Worth seeking out.

  • Had to re-try after tasting at room temp in the Emirates lounge a week ago. PnP'd as this was the first wine opened at dinner. Served at cellar temp ~ 60 degrees. A much more approachable & smoother wine, dark blackberries on the nose & palate, with a silky finish. Terrific wine & a solid QPR.

  • Emirates lounge and served too warm. Dark garnet with translucent rim. This is a big wine almost of new world Shiraz size. There must be plenty of Merlot in the blend with some Cab or perhaps Sangiovese providing the backbone. Lush and round, medium tannins (and some remaining oak) are almost entirely covered. Heat comes through a bit at room temperature (14.5% alc). Good length. Very good wine if not necessarily my preferred style. 93
