Too young to properly enjoy right out of the bottle today, definitely needs some air or a few more years... but wonderful nose and great bones! I'm sure I would give this a higher score once it comes together a bit more.
Corvin taste alongside 2010 Saffredi. The nose on this is more new-world compared to the Saffredi, but it does have a nice nuance of forest floor. On the palate, this has good red fruit balanced by nice acidity and has a medium weight profile overall. The tannins have a bit of bite, but it is not drinking badly even though quite young. Not quite as much complexity as the Saffredi. No problems with over oaking or heat. This should be very nice as it ages. Potential for 93-94 points.
A youthful-looking dark, semi-opaque magenta in color. Very pretty aromas of ripe dark fruits, flowers and spice. Full-bodied, rich and very plush in texture. The mouth feel here is akin to liquid velvet. There's impressive depth and concentration to its tangy blackberry and dark currant fruit. Displays wonderful balance too, with a moderate acidity that deftly complements its dense fruit. Prominent notes of smoke, vanilla and violets provide ample complexity to the long, lip-smacking finish. Very nicely crafted and surprisingly approachable for such a young Oreno - though still just a bit tannic. With a few years of cellar time this should develop into one of the best Orenos of the last five vintages. 50+5+12+17+8=92
This wine was very young and showed some youthful exuberance. The color of the wine was very inky and dark purple and on the palate, there were lots of dark purple fruits that were present but slightly muted. This will be a fabulous wine with time. Although this is enjoyable now, I would strongly suggest holding off for another 4-5 years.
