The NV version of Maillons tastes very, very young and hard to read. Explosive mousse, medium bubbles. Quite bound up in its mineral expressionnwith sharp acidity. Missing mid palate at his point. Perhaps much better in a few years but hard to tell.
Tasted at a social event. 100% Pinot Noir, base vintage 2012. Unfortunately minor cork stain. But you could still identify nice floral top notes, fruit of pear, apple and citrus, layers of minerality and herbs. Extraordinary vibrant and lively palate. What a pity that this was flawed, otherwise easily 95 or more.
Very fine mousse. Displays early stage of maturing complexities. Freshly baked apple crumble, apricot, brioche, apricot, chalky minerals, honey, roasted nuts, sweet nutmeg and ginger spices. Broad on entry but finishing fine.

(NV Ulysse Collin Champagne Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut Les Maillons) Light orange peach color; tart pink grapefruit, blood orange, yeast, white chocolate nose; tight, tart blood orange, very tart cherry, mineral, Clementine palate with the usual intensity one expects from this producer, and good acidity, needs 2-plus years; medium-plus finish

I loved this wine, great balance of fruit and acidity. Also had the x-factor from great wines.
